Work With Us
Rovers Pet Care is expanding! Due to the large number of enquiries we receive, we
are keen to work alongside other pet lovers in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire
who are interested in pet boarding, doggie daycare, dog walking and cat feeding.
Why become a pet sitter?
This is an ideal job for anyone who is retired, works part time or spends a lot of
time at home for other reasons. You are free to choose your assignments – we will
only offer you assignments that suit your abilities, interests and preferences, and
you can accept or decline as many as you like.
You have a choice of types of work. You can board dogs, cats or other small animals
in your home, or you can walk dogs and feed cats in their own home.
Being a pet sitter allows you all the joy of caring for pets, without the full time
responsibility and expense of owning them.
Rates Of Pay
Whilst you may start with just a few assignments, in time you will build up a regular
client base, which means consistent work with familiar pets and regular money.
While we appreciate that pay in the pet care business is quite modest, your pay will
be greater when you work with Rovers than most of our competitors. There are many
other perks to being a pet sitter contracted by Rovers. These include:
- A minimal work load – caring for pets (walking, feeding and grooming).
- Work from home to suit your lifestyle for pet visiting & boarding assignments.
- Variety and choice of work, clients and pets.
- The full time companionship and love of pets without the long term commitment or
costs.
- Meeting great people who care for their pets – and meeting great pets!

How It Works
At first this process may seem a little daunting, but do not worry. The office staff
will guide you every step of the way, ensuring that you are completely in control
and happy with the process.
- New job arrives – we match your details with the client's requirements.
- We contact you to offer an assignment. We will advise of all job details including
pay. You are under no obligation to accept any assignment.
- We telephone the client to tell them all about you i.e. your age, pet history employment
history etc (no personal details are ever disclosed).
- Once the client confirms that they are happy with your profile we contact you to
arrange a pre-meeting. The meeting with the client is your opportunity to ensure
that you are happy to undertake the assignment.
- Home Boarders will nearly always have a pre-meeting in your property.
- Cat feeders and dog walkers will always go to the client’s property.
- At the meeting the client will complete and provide you with a briefing form. This
form has all the information you may need about the client and their pets, such as
emergency details, who has the spare key, when to walk or feed the dog/cat/other
pet.
- Following the pre-meeting you must contact us to discuss the outcome of your meeting.
- We then contact the client to confirm that they are happy with you.
- Ten days prior to the commencement of the assignment we will contact you as a reminder.
What Do I Have To Do?
Pet Boarding/Doggie Daycare - Essentially you look after our client’s pet(s) in YOUR
home. The client will provide the food, the bedding and toys etc; all you have to
do is love, walk, feed & groom the pet(s) and maintain their routines. You are simply
paid to provide grooming, feeding, watering, walking, and most of all, tender loving
care whilst the pet lives in your home. For boarding services, the pet will be staying
overnight at your house. For daycare services, the dog will be collected before
6pm.
Cat Feeding/Dog Walking - Essentially you look after our client’s pet(s) in their
own homes. Pet Visitors are expected to undertake no more than one hour’s responsibilities
during each visit.
You visit the client’s home (which maintains security) and you simply feed and provide
water to pets, clear/change litter, take dog(s) for a walk (as per the clients specification),
and most of all, provide companionship and tender loving care. You may additionally
be requested to close and open curtains / blinds, take in the mail / newspapers,
or turn the lights on and off.
Our Requirements
- You must be an existing or previous pet owner.
- You must have a reasonable level of fitness and health.
- We require a Criminal Records Disclosure or Subject Access form for all our contractors.
- We will contact previous employers for references.
- Your previous levels of responsibility and experience will also be taken into consideration.
- You must be over 18 years of age.
- You must be prepared to invest in your own pet boarding/public liability insurance.
Rovers can advise on what type of insurance will be necessary for the types of assignments
you will undertake.
